My husband feels unwell these days, too much pressure from work and from me as well. So he went to visit his doctor.
Since all kinds of health check take time, the doctor does not have a diagnose after two half days of my husband have been spent in the clinic.
Today, after came out from the clinic, I asked him, how is he going to count the time spent in the clinic? Why didn't he ask for a sick-leave certificate? He replied, there are a lot of overtime working hours he didn't even note down.
This reply could not answer my question obviously, because to ask the doctor to write a sick-leave certificate is the right that a working patient is entitled to have, while to note down his overtime working hours correctly in order to get them paid (or to be compensated by holidays) is the right and also duty that a employee is supposed to have. When a person who plays such roles but does not claim his/her actions rightly, two negations add together, would not come out with a plus.
I hope the pressure brought by this kind of simple mathematics, could help him releasing some pressure gathered from the outside world.
This morning, I translated a phrase, which I read from a Chinese blog and it brought me a good laughter, to him. It says, a cook, who does not want to become a tailor, would not make a good general.
The reason for this kind of joke to be a joke, is only because it drags too far away from our common sense.
But in reality, there are a lot of things which are off-track from our common sense, they however would not make us to feel funny at all.
While we think that it is sooooooo obvious, that no matter cooks, or tailors, or generals, they should all care about their own business, instead of caring about the principles of people in other professions or positions. We might forget that doctors, or employers should fulfil their own duties, while patients or employees should take care of themselves too.
